Using the nonrigorous eqn

But since all the Qs are equal, this becomes 

  • If substituting from Darcy eqn into hL (for series) and including minor losses if we wish (usually L/D < 1000)

  • Using continuity eqn, etc from which we can express all the velocities in terms of chosen velocity. By assuming reasonable values for f,for any pipeline however complex, can write hL as
